As part of the DAAD-funded project “Converting food waste into value-added products in Germany and Hong Kong: Solar-driven carbon-neutral technology development, feasibility analysis, and policy implications”, we were pleased to welcome our project partners, Prof. Jingzheng Ren und Jianzhao Zhou from The Hongkong Polytechnic University, to Hannover from 18 to 27 May 2026.
During the visit, the project team engaged in intensive and highly productive discussions. Together, the partners refined the project objectives, aligned methodologies and data requirements, and planned the next steps of the collaboration. The IUW team, consisting of Apl. Prof. Dr. Trung Thanh Nguyen and Robyn Blake-Rath, was supported by the three master’s students Pia Wilde, Ben Risse, and Mila Isert.
In addition to the scientific exchange, the programme also offered opportunities for our guests to explore Hannover and its surroundings. Highlights included a guided city tour and a visit to the Weltacker. Furthermore, our guests visited the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Waste Management for scientific exchange and gained valuable insights into its current research activities.

The visit laid an excellent foundation for the continued success of the collaboration. We look forward to the upcoming joint activities, further scientific exchange, and future reciprocal visits within the framework of the project.
